An Interview With Military Town Advisor CEO Cameron Allison

Army housing website

We sat down recently with Cameron Allison, CEO of Military Town Advisor, to discuss all of the unique ways that the business helps military spouses and families adjust to what is often a tumultuous life adjustment.

Why did you start your own business, other than to make a living?

Cameron Allison: I started MilitaryTownAdvisor.com after a tough move with the military, or as the military calls it, a Permanent Change of Station or PCS. My family and I had just ten days to house hunt and find a new place to live, but there was not very much information online. I wanted to be able to tell the good areas from the bad, as well as where other military families lived, because I wanted a sense of community. I also wanted to know about commute times and other factors that can affect military life.

I started this business to help military families like mine, by providing a free website where people could share insider information about where to live.

Describe your business to us!

Military Town Advisor is a free resource that can provide military families with information on neighborhoods, nearby school ratings and things to do near their local U.S. military base. Military families write reviews of their neighborhoods, apartment complex and areas surrounding the base. They can also learn about the different schools they could send their children to. Being a military spouse, I created Military Town Advisor to help other military families.

Where do you see your business in the next year? The next five?

In another year, I see the website continuing to grow by increasing traffic and reaching thousands more military families in need of help. I also see it becoming an all in one site for military family relocation needs, and I plan on implementing all phases by next year.

In five years, I see it becoming the most highly trafficked military moving site! I also see us hiring a lot more military spouses (we currently employ four). My goal is to provide part and full time opportunities for military spouses.

Cameron Allison is the CEO and owner of Military Town Advisor. She graduated from Texas AandM University with a Bachelors degree in Finance, and is constantly striving to meet the needs of other military families. 1. As a military dad, this is terrific! My wife has been serving our country for ten years. I’m so proud of her, and I want to use this to help us out.
